The Screenplay Marathon in JUNE is about to start!

The basic principle:

Just stick it out :-)

If you write an average of 3 script pages per day for 30 days, you will end up with a 90 page script. This is the so-called "Vomit Draft" - throw up everything on paper once. Uh, write it!

This time we have compiled it so that we write for 3 weeks and leave time for corrections in the 4th week. In addition, a ScriptCoaching (at the ScriptDock coach of your choice) beckons as absolute perseverance reinforcement!

If you want to prioritize an idea from the Space of Potential for a month and expose it to the reality of WORDS on PAPER (because that's the only way it can find its way into the world), give it a binding space to do so and the best conditions!

The marathon conditions:

  • You don't write alone - persevering together is absolutely motivating!

  • There is a deadline and a real commitment to keep it!

  • It is allowed to be raw and unfinished for the time being, perfectionism is not allowed!

  • You can use the last week to write either a long project to the end, or to revise your pilot/short film/treatment.
No matter the project size, if you finish, you receive a small ScriptCoaching (up to 60 pages) where an experienced coach will guide you to strengthen your vision and voice.

  • If you are diligent you can present their project to production partners at the PITCH EVENT in JULY (4. - 25.7.)!

  • In any case, writing through the story once produces a lot of insight, and always provides a deepening of your knowledge of the characters and their story!

The commitment and investment in your project provides something on every level:

SELF CONFIDENCE to reliably reach your own goals.

TRAINING in the process of developing your material.

CRAFT through feedback from the coaches and the possible exchange with colleagues.

And for those who are still hesitant: write 3 script pages a day. That is feasible!

Of course, the project should already have a certain maturity, at least the outline of the plot on 5 pages. If you have less, you can develop an outline in a marathon!

We are looking forward to run with you ;-*

Screenwriting Marathon

Get the structure, support, and coaching for your personal best results!

Previous screenwriting marathons have shown that gentle peer pressure and a deadline are very effective in reliably achieving personal writing goals.

Sometimes a few obstacles have to be overcome to get it out of your head and onto paper, right? Above all, PERFECTION and PROCRASTINATION. That's why we have (almost) only one basic rule for the marathon, namely to write through. This ensures productivity, and then comes the quality.

We're doing this together:

We write for 3 weeks straight. You may go back to review and polish your work in the last week of the month.

The benefits:

PERFECTIONISM and PROCRASTINATION are not allowed!

Through the active writing practice of colleagues and the exchange about the process a certain dynamic is created that encourages everyone to persevere. It's like running a marathon - you don't run it alone.

At the end of the month, you can upload 60 pages of script, or a 20-page treatment, for individual script coaching. There, we'll work with you one-on-one to determine where your next development steps will lead to sharpening your vision and improving your work. So that the quality you want is there in the end.

Where is this happening?

We have our own marathon site on ScriptDock, where we regularly share our page count and communicate via chat. Additionally there is also a closed Facebook group.

To click this off, we meet on a zoom call to state our personal goals, and dedicate our efforts to overcome the obstacles. Dates for live calls will be published at the ScriptDock calendar.

Upload everything by the end of the month and receive a small ScriptCoaching.

How does a ScriptCoaching work?

First you get line-by-line feedback on your text and a written summary of the coaches first impression. Then we engage in a dialogue to specify your goals (either via Skype or in writing): what do you want to achieve? Where does the next step lead? We want to see YOUR stories fully developed, not something bent.

The coach wants to lead you back to the feeling: "Now I know clearly where I am really drawn to, what drives me most", then we will show you the ways to get there.

This is followed by a written development recommendation with practical steps that bring new energy into the work process. In addition, we give you concrete examples that illustrate what could be dramaturgically condensed and strengthened.

The marathon gives a specific deadline for writing your story.

The coaching is only retrievable if you actually reach your individual goal of the marathon. Of course, you may also exchange feedback in the dry dock with the participants from the marathon! This costs nothing and the required trust often arises through the common journey.

The scriptCoaching includes these project sizes:

TREATMENT = 10-20 pages outline for a feature film (or for a pilot or a season arc).  This requires about 5 pages per week! You may upload your pages within the marathon to measure your progress; but during the first 3 weeks they will NOT be visible for reading.

SCRIPT = 40-60 pages of script formatted pages.

This requires an average of 3 script pages per day! You can fix things during the last week and then share your results with colleagues, if you like. You can also write a feature by writing 3 pages a day for 4 weeks. The coaching can be for any of the 60 pages you select.

We are looking forward to running with you!
